We start today’s show with a segment on Kansas land values and ownership with K-State agricultural economist, Robin Reid. Robin shares an overview of current land values and compares the current highs to those we have seen in the past. She also shares insight on which of our neighboring states have residents that own the most Kansas land. 

We have a conversation on carbon credits with post-doctoral fellow in the Agricultural Economics Department here at K-State, Micah Cameron Harp. He begins with the basics of what a carbon credit is, how they are utilized, and what it looks like to take advantage of the carbon market as an agricultural producer, then shares insight on how credits are generated and the different factors that can impact producer return on investment in these programs.

Ukraine native, Antonina Broyaka reflects on the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, her journey with her children to K-State, and impacts of the war so far, then continues with discussion of the war's impacts by providing insight on the significant role of infrastructure and exports in supporting not only the agricultural industry of the war-torn country, but the entirety of Ukraine itself.

Bill Golden has done extensive research analyzing the benefits for producers who participate in voluntary programs such as local enhanced management areas (LEMAs) and water conservation areas. This work has allowed producers to increase water use efficiencies and production efficiencies in ways that they never thought possible before.

Brian Briggeman discusses the history of rapidly raising interest rates to combat inflation, the current labor market, and consumer demand. Then in part two, Brian continues the conversation, but this time focusing on the impact everything we discussed previously will have on agricultural producers. He shares optimism with land values and gives advice on what producers can actually control right now.
